- The trials are to begin by mid-August 2014
- The appointed contractor is Barnardo’s for the trial period.
- A grant of up to £420,916 is available from the Home Office, Crime and Policing Group budget for the provision for the trial period.
- The age range will include all children upto the age of 18 identified as potentially trafficked in the trial areas.
- The aim of the trials, not just in the West Midlands, is to assess what the best provision of support for this vulnerable group of children looks like. The trial will provide full and specialist independent advocacy services for victims of child trafficking in 23 local authority areas including the West Midlands. The specialist independent advocates will support, advise and guide the child through the immigration, criminal justice and care systems ensuring the child’s voice is heard, and will promote the child’s safety and wellbeing, particularly important in light of the risk of children being re-trafficked.
