Overview
For academic year 2023 to 2024 the Turing Scheme received 619 applications, compared with 520 for academic year 2022 to 2023.
Applications increased across all sectors. A total of 474 projects were approved to receive grant funding totalling £104,615,671.53 with participants expected to undertake study, school exchanges, and industry work placements in more than 160 destinations around the world.
Organisations including schools, colleges and universities from across the UK received funding from the Turing Scheme to provide opportunities for a projected 40,206 pupils, learners and students to study and work across the globe during the 2023 to 2024 academic year, with 24,185 (60%) of the placements approved for funding for participants from a disadvantaged background.

This information was previously held on a dedicated website which has now closed. The data contained within the tables remains the same, but some explanatory information has changed to reflect the new format.
Methodology
The data in this publication is collected from organisations when they apply for funding through the Turing Scheme. The data has been aggregated to protect personally identifiable information.
The data represents organisations’ planned placements[^1] at application stage. Final data detailing actual spend, and number of placements will be published when all academic year 2023 to 2024 activity is concluded, and once final reports are received.
Data quality and limitations
This data accurately reflects organisations’ application data and is correct as of 17th July 2023.
There are some limitations to this data. It is possible that there may be input errors or missing data as it relies on data from applications and final reports filled out by organisations.
