Tweed Forum: application made to abstract water and application made to impound water

Tweed Forum has applied to the Environment Agency for two licences.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of these applications in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract (take) water from the River Breamish near Old Berwick at National Grid References (NGRs) NU 06393 20980, NU 06203 21187 and NU 05878 21588 to transfer it to NGRs NU 06393 20980, NU 06203 21187 and NU 05878 21588 without intervening use.

Tweed Forum has also applied for a licence to obstruct or impede the flow of the River Breamish near Old Berwick at NGRs NU 06402 20984, NU 06209 21210 and NU 05848 21615.

By large woody debris water will be impounded to restore the historic channel of the river.
