Sierra Leone and the UK are calling on governments and international donors around the world to join up in a concerted effort to contain, control and ultimately defeat the Ebola outbreak.

The United Nations has said the epidemic in West Africa is an unprecedented public health emergency, and risks becoming a global catastrophe unless action is taken now. At the request of Sierra Leone and with the backing of the UN, the UK is co-ordinating the international mission in the country to beat the virus.
