Details

We will provide 0.7% of our Gross National Income as aid from 2013 because it is the right thing to do and it is in Britain’s interests. But we will change the way we give aid. A complete review of British aid has looked at how to get maximum value for every pound of aid invested. Some aid programmes will end. We will no longer give aid to countries like Russia and China, which do not need it, or to organisations which do not deliver. Instead, we will invest more in the countries where our aid can make the biggest difference. Over the next four years, aid from Britain will transform the lives of millions of the world’s poorest people.
