The UK is running for election to the Human Rights Council (HRC) for the period 2026 to 2028. This brochure sets out the UK’s pledges for its time on the HRC.

Details

The UK would be honoured to serve a further term on the Human Rights Council (HRC). The election brochure includes a foreword by the Foreign Secretary and a series of pledges, which focus on some of the most pressing human rights challenges facing the international community. We pledge to:

  • defend civic space and fundamental freedoms
  • uphold the rule of law
  • champion equal rights for all
  • respond to shared global challenges, such as modern slavery and climate change, by prioritising human rights and governance principles
