UK-France statements of cooperation on energy

On 10 March, the Prime Minister of the UK and the President of France met in Paris alongside their Cabinets for the first Franco-British Summit since 2018.
The Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero and the French Minister for Energy Transition signed a Statement of Cooperation on Energy committing their ministries to greater cooperation on:
- energy resilience (including interconnection and energy security)
- civil nuclear (including new build, R&D and decommissioning)
- low carbon technologies (including hydrogen, offshore wind and carbon capture, usage and storage)
Ministers will meet annually to review progress and ensure that progress continues to be made to the benefit of both countries.
The Statements of Cooperation on Civil Nuclear Energy commits to enhanced cooperation between the UK and France on new build and in a range of other areas: energy diversification, decommissioning and dismantling, waste management, research and development, skills and diversity, supply chain, fusion, and safety.
