UK-Germany joint declaration, June 2021

The UK and Germany signed a joint declaration to provide responsible leadership on foreign policy issues.

Details

This joint declaration is the first bilateral agreement between the UK and Germany on foreign and security policy issues. It sets out shared UK-Germany priorities and ambitions on a range of issues including climate change, China and the Indo-Pacific and shared values.

The joint declaration covers over 20 issues, demonstrating UK-German commitment to continue to provide leadership on issues of global importance. These include our shared desire to strengthen cooperation in humanitarian affairs in order to respond better to humanitarian crises. This involves seeking to agree coordinated action to unblock humanitarian access and protection constraints in countries at risk of famine, and to strengthen anticipatory approaches to crisis.

The UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs and the Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany signed the joint declaration.
