Details

The Rt Hon Elizabeth Truss MP, Secretary of State for International Trade and President of the Board of Trade and Mr Toshimitsu Motegi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan signed an exchange of letters on 20 September 2019.

The exchange of letters contains temporary measures under which each country will continue to accept conformity assessment results from the other.

The measures can take effect from 1 January 2021, when the EU-Japan mutual recognition agreement on conformity assessment no longer applies to the UK.
