The report by the Marine Science Coordination Committee (MSCC):

• assesses the UK requirements for large-scale research vessels for the next 5 years
• proposes cost effective options for the joint ownership and/or joint procurement of new vessels
• proposes efficient arrangements for the management and/or maintenance of the fleet
• identifies costed options for strengthened co-ordination of government vessel operation
