The chapter secures UK companies’ ability to deliver high-value financial services to clients in New Zealand. It also supports the long-term competitiveness and stability of the UK’s financial services sector. It promotes innovation in financial services in both countries and builds on the current financial service trading relationship with New Zealand. It includes a commitment to non-discrimination rules that ensure UK and New Zealand firms are treated fairly when providing services in the other Party’s markets.
Other commitments include the facilitation of cross-border financial services trade – including for insurance and portfolio management services - and the free flow of financial data across borders. Furthermore, the chapter supports our shared goals and facilitates our continued cooperation in promoting sustainable finance, recognising the importance of environmental, social and governance considerations.
