Details

In addition to the Waste Shipment Regulations and the Transfrontier Shipment of Waste Regulations 2007, this UK policy document, the UK Plan for Shipments of Waste implements the long-standing UK policy of self-sufficiency in the disposal of waste by strictly limiting when waste may be shipped to or from the UK for disposal.

Defra consulted on a small amendment to the UK Plan to allow for the possible shipment of contaminated river sediments that are classified as non-hazardous waste. As a result of the consultation, Defra has made some small amendments to the UK Plan, and taken the opportunity to update the legal references in the document.
