UK-wide allocation of £150 million homelessness prevention funding 2023 to 2024
Published 10 June 2023
Information regarding the allocation of the £150 million UK-wide Homes for Ukraine funding for 2023 to 2024.
The government is providing £150 million UK-wide funding that will be made available to local authorities and devolved administrations in 2023 to 2024. This will ensure that Ukrainian guests can be supported to move into their own homes and reduce the risk of homelessness.
The funding will be allocated across the UK according to the proportion of Homes for Ukraine arrivals in each part of the UK. Devolved administrations will receive their share of the funding at Supplementary Estimates via Budget Cover Transfer.
In England, funding will be allocated to all local authorities as a top-up to the existing Homelessness Prevention Grant. This grant is ringfenced for homelessness prevention. Allocations to English local authorities will reflect both Homes for Ukraine arrival numbers reported for each local authority and wider homelessness pressures.
Allocations
Devolved administration | Funding total (£) |
England | 109,397,777 |
Scotland | 29,999,751 |
Wales | 8,219,587 |
Northern Ireland | 2,382,885 |
In December 2022 a £150 million UK-wide fund was announced for 2023 to 2024 to help local authorities and the devolved administrations support those on the Homes for Ukraine scheme and others move into their own homes and to prevent the risk of homelessness.
In recognition that this is a devolved responsibility, the funding allocations for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will be paid to the respective devolved administrations at Supplementary Estimates.
The overall £150 million is apportioned across the UK based on the number of Homes for Ukraine arrivals as of the beginning of April.
