Passport extensions

Deadline for Overseas Voters for registering to vote is 20 April 2015
British nationals - Did you know you may still be able to take part in the UK General Election on Thursday 7th May if you live overseas? You can now also go online to register. Go to Register to Vote. Make sure you don’t miss out on having your say. The deadline for Overseas Voters for registering to vote is 20th April 2015.

Marriage in the UK
On 2 March 2015, major changes to the process for giving notice of marriage or civil partnership came into effect. From that date anyone who wants to marry or have a civil partnership in the UK will need to give 28 days’ notice. You should contact the registry office or your local church for more details. Marriage in the UAE
The British Embassies in Dubai and Abu Dhabi are able to issue an Affidavit/ Affirmation for British nationals getting married in the UAE at a local church or in the Shariaa courts. Please note that the document when signed is valid for 90 days and you are required to know the place and date you are going to get married. If you are getting married in a third country then you will need to obtain the Affidavit / Affirmation from the British Embassy in that country.

Ladies who lunch Events
Ladies who lunch are organising a number of Community Outreach events open to members of the public with speakers from different walks of life in the UAE. The British Embassy will be talking about local laws and customs at the next event at Cranleigh School, Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi and Gems Wellington School in Dubai.
