Understanding cultural change: a case study of an English prison
This research aimed to describe the cultural changes in one prison which had taken place over a period of transformation, and most importantly aimed to identify the mechanisms that had brought about these changes.

The study used an exploratory case study design and one hundred and sixty-seven people at the prison participated in interviews, focus groups or ad-hoc conversations. Thematic analysis was used to understand people’s experiences of living and working at the prison and to explore potential mechanisms of change.
