HMRC commissioned this research to:
- understand whether there is any friction in the tax system which could potentially create barriers to the growth of the ‘upper end’ of small and mid-size businesses
- identify opportunities to design and deliver growth support in a customer-focused way throughout the business’s growth journey
- provide insights that can be used to improve the content and targeting of material to increase businesses’ awareness of the support, reliefs and incentives available to facilitate growth
The research was undertaken and the report written, in 2017, under the previous Government’s administration of the tax system.
