Details
This research has been conducted by Ipsos MORI to understand the general public’s behaviour and attitudes towards travel within and across the UK. It was commissioned by the Department for Transport as part of Sir Peter Hendy’s union connectivity review.
The research investigates:
- travel between UK nations in 2019
- interest in future travel to UK nations
- perceived importance and impacts of improved union connectivity
- priorities for investment
- personal stories of inter-UK travel
The research consisted of a UK-wide survey as well as qualitative focus groups and interviews. It involved over 3,700 adults across the 4 nations and took place between February and July 2021.
The research findings have informed the union connectivity review, allowing Sir Peter Hendy to better understand the issues people face and the improvements most important to them.
This research accompanies a significant level of stakeholder engagement conducted as part of the review.
