United Utilities Water Limited: application made to impound water

United Utilities Water Limited (UU) has applied to the Environment Agency for two licences.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of these applications, in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The applications are for impoundment licences to allow UU to release water (compensation flow) at 259 cubic metres per day from Readycon Dean Reservoir at National Grid Reference (NGR) SD 98 12 into the Readycon Dean Brook and 778 cubic metres per day from Horse Coppice Reservoir at NGR SJ 96 83 into Bollinhurst Brook. There is currently no compensation flow required from the reservoirs. The purpose of the compensation flows are to provide an ecological benefit to the downstream watercourses.
