United Utilities Water Limited: application made to abstract water

United Utilities Water Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a full licence to abstract water from underground strata comprising carboniferous bedrock (Marsden formation) at Ramsbottom, Lancashire within the boundary formed by straight lines running between the following National Grid References SD 79538 15723, SD 79560 15723, SD 79560 15693 and SD 79538 15693.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 58 cubic metres an hour
- 1,383 cubic metres a day
- 504,576 cubic metres a year
- The period of abstraction is all year.
The water will be used for dewatering for construction of an underground attenuation tank. All water will be discharged direct to sewer.
