The Urban Tree Challenge Fund (UTCF) is now closed to new applications.

Read the UTCF grant manual and any relevant guidance to understand the requirements of the grant. This contains essential information about the UTCF agreement, how it works and how to apply.

How to apply

Complete the following documents:

  • Urban Tree Challenge Fund - application form
  • Urban Tree Challenge Fund - application annex
  • Biosecure procurement exception form: if you’re not purchasing your trees from a commercial supplier, use this form to request an exception

Email these documents, as well as your application map/maps, to utcf@forestrycommission.gov.uk.

Once you’ve applied you will receive emails relating to your UTCF application from the email address forestry@ukemail.icasework.com. Check your junk folder and accept emails from this address. Reply directly if you receive emails from this address.

  1. Added a new version (v3.3) of the grant manual.

  2. Added new versions of the grant manual and terms and conditions. The force majeure sections were updated. Also added a note to confirm the fund is now closed.

  3. Added v.3.2 of the terms and conditions: the section on force majeure has been updated.

  4. Updated 3 attachments: grant manual, terms and conditions and application annex. Updates reflect that the planting window now allows a small amount of tree planting to be scheduled in 2025/26. Whist most tree planting (80% must be scheduled in 2024/25, up to 20% can be allocated to 2025/26.

  5. Updated the UTCF grant manual to include additional information about public access requirements and provided example maps to demonstrate the required mapping standard at application and claim stage.

  6. UTCF is supported by our Grants Management System (GMS), an internal tool which supports management of some of our grants. Going forwards applicants will receive emails relating to their UTCF application from the following email address: forestry@ukemail.icasework.com. This information has been added to the page.
