Updated 24 June 2022

Applies to England

Purpose of this page

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) is seeking applications for the Health and Wellbeing Fund 2022 to 2025 from voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations.

If you missed the ‘meet the funder’ webinars, this page contains answers to queries that came from webinar content. This document complements the information pack, which all applicants should read thoroughly.

Note on language

Note that the fund is aimed at providing support to all women and those assigned female at birth. While in this document we refer to women, we recognise that some transgender men, non-binary people and people with variations in sex characteristics (VSC) or who are intersex may also experience some of the same issues covered.

Reproductive health issues covered

The list of examples of reproductive health issues in the information pack (menopause, fertility problems, miscarriage and pregnancy loss, menstrual health and gynaecological conditions) is not exhaustive.

Applying as a higher education provider

Higher education providers that are either exempt or registered charities, and are non-profit-making, are eligible to apply if they meet the eligibility criteria. See the full eligibility criteria in the information pack.

Supporting letters for national organisations

National organisations may submit a letter of support from a statutory or government body.

25% income threshold

The information pack stipulates that organisations cannot apply for grant funding of more than 25% of their current annual turnover, as demonstrated by their audited or independently examined accounts. This means that an organisation is eligible to apply for up to 25% of their annual turnover for each year of the grant.

In a collaborative bid, the due diligence and eligibility checks will only be taken on for the lead organisation. The lead organisation will need to meet the 25% threshold on their own. The threshold cannot be spread across all the organisations and their cumulative income.

For other partner organisations in the consortium, the lead is expected to undertake their own due diligence checks, but there is no requirement for them to meet the 25% threshold individually.

Making more than one application

Organisations may make 2 different applications if a) they could deliver both projects, if successful and b) they are not requesting funding each year that totals more than 25% of their annual turnover.
