Details

Following the Bichard Inquiry, the vetting and barring scheme (VBS) was created to help safeguard children and vulnerable adults, and was designed to check the records of those who wanted to work with vulnerable groups. In June 2010, ministers announced that the planned implementation of the VBS was to be halted, pending a thorough review.

Whilst this review sets out the broad principles that will apply to the barring and disclosure regimes the full detail of the roles to be covered is still to be finalised.
