This Strategy outlines the government’s approach to establishing a more effective and sustainably funded victim support sector, to strengthen services and ensure victims are receiving the right support at the right time.
The Victims Funding Strategy outlines three key aims for achieving this:
- Fund the sector more strategically, to drive consistency and improve sustainability of services.
- Remove barriers to access, both to ensure that victims can access support whenever they need to, wherever they live; and, to ensure that all support services are able to apply for and access funding.
- Implement clear and consistent outcomes for those receiving government funding to provide services for victims, to ensure that victims receive a consistent, high-quality level of service.
The Strategy also commits to:
- Multi-year funding as the best practice for core victim support services
- Introducing national commissioning standards to ensure that services are effective, consistent, and reaching as many victims as possible
- Introducing core metrics and outcomes to ensure that we are building a comparable evidence base on the impact of our funding
- Establish government oversight by bringing departments together to ensure better alignment of funding
