Details of the application

W.& M. Thompson (Quarries) Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from Alluvium, compromised of clay, silt and sand and gravel at Prudhoe, Northumberland, from an area within the boundary formed by the following National Grid References: NY 95175 64178, NY 95207 64181, NY 95175 64156 and NY 95205 64160.

The application is to abstract water all year as follows:

  • 63 cubic metres an hour
  • 500 cubic metres a day
  • 130,500 cubic metres a year

For the purposes of dust suppression, mineral washing and wheel washing.
