Waldersey Farms Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

Licence 6/33/39/*S/0381 will expire on 31 March 2021 and the applicant has applied to renew the licence on different terms. The application is for a full licence to abstract water from a drain located within the Middle Fen and Mere Internal Drainage District at National Grid Reference TL 59930 80880 between November to March for the purpose of filling a reservoir for subsequent discharge to drains within the Middle Fen and Mere Internal Drainage District and re-abstraction for spray irrigation during the months of April to October.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 19 litres a second (increase from 11.55 litres a second)
  • 69 cubic metres an hour (increase from 41.6 cubic metres an hour)
  • 1,636 cubic metres a day (increase from 1,000 cubic metres a day)
  • 90,000 cubic metres a year (no change)
