Details

‘Maximising Resources, Minimising Waste’ is the waste prevention programme for England. The cross-departmental programme sets out government’s priorities for managing resources and waste, in line with the resources and waste strategy for England.

The programme aims to move to a circular economy by keeping goods in circulation for as long as possible and at their highest value. This includes increasing the reuse, repair and remanufacture of goods.

The Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011 require government to review its waste prevention programme at least every 6 years. Visit the National Archives to read the previous Waste Prevention Programme for England (2013). We reviewed the previous programme in 2019 and consulted on a revised programme in 2021.
