Wates Developments Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from underground strata comprising Lower Greensand Group at Land South of New Hall Lane, Small Dole, Henfield, West Sussex at National Grid References TQ 21433 13055 and TQ 21404 13068.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 0.88 cubic metres an hour
  • 21.06 cubic metres a day
  • 7,686.90 cubic metres a year
  • between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year.

The water will be used for private water supply to a residential development.
