Details

Advance payment and cancellation terms are commonly used by wedding and event venue providers. In certain circumstances, these terms may be unfair and breach consumer protection law.

This letter, sent by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) on behalf of the Consumer Protection Partnership (CPP), reminds venue providers about the need for their consumer contract terms to comply with consumer protection law. It recommends they review and, where necessary, change their terms to make sure they comply with the law.

We’ve also published an at-a-glance guide to help businesses use fair terms in their consumer contracts.
