Wessex Water Services Limited: application made to abstract water

Wessex Water Services Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from Groundwater (Poole Formation Secondary A)   at the area bounded by the National Grid References: SZ 13053 94980, SZ 13082 95045, SZ 13024 94992, and SZ 13052 95057 to transfer it to the River Stour at National Grid Reference: SZ 13600 95050 without intervening use.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 360 cubic metres an hour
  • 8,640 cubic metres a day
  • 3,153,600 cubic metres a year
  • At an instantaneous rate of 100 litres per second

This abstraction licence will only be valid until 01 May 2025. Its purpose is for dewatering for construction, for subsequent construction of a storm water tank.
