Notice about the change in design to the proposed improvement works
The Environment Agency gives notice that an addendum to the environmental statement has been prepared in respect to the change in design to the proposed improvement works to the flood defence on Morton’s Leam between Stanground (NGR TL 201 979) and Ring’s End (NGR TF 398 029), a distance of 16 kilometres.
Proposed improvement works
The improvement works to the South Barrier Bank, the flood defence adjacent to Moreton’s Leam, currently involve:
- flattening the rear slope of the South Barrier Bank to 1:5 slopes with grass cover and grass reinforcement
- bank toe stabilisation works between Bassenhally and Ring’s End and Stanground to Ball Bridge
The proposed changes to the design of the improvements are:
- the installation of 2 sections of concrete flood wall (maximum 0.85 metres high) on top of the existing South Barrier Bank at the Stanground end (between NGR TL 207 972 and NGR TL 209 973) of the Stanground to Ball Bridge section
- the installation of 45 metres of sheet piling running parallel to the South Barrier Bank at Feldale Pumping Station (NGR TL 301 989) directly north of Coates
