Details

The first stage of the consultation on the review of post 16 qualifications at level 3 and below set out the Department for Education’s intention to remove approval for funding of qualifications with low and no publicly funded enrolments.

In February 2020, we set out the process to deliver this. We published an initial list of qualifications with low or no publicly funded enrolments that were in scope to have approval for public funding withdrawn for new starts from 1 August 2021. In March 2020, we confirmed that we would suspend the process for low enrolments because of the impact of COVID-19, and that we would only continue the process for no enrolments.

In December 2020, we have published the final list of qualifications with no publicly funded enrolments where we will remove funding approval from 1 August 2021.
