Details

This publication sets out best practice on working with volunteers in projects and campaigns to help people save energy. It draws on the findings from the Social Action Energy Pilots, carried out earlier this year in 6 housing associations by Global Action Plan and the Cabinet Office.

The Social Action Energy Pilots demonstrated that Housing Association tenants benefit from participating in social action through:

  • increased knowledge and confidence amongst volunteers
  • encouraging residents to relate to each other as part of the community
  • building trust with residents about energy use

Using case studies from the pilots, this publication provides best practice on managing volunteers, engaging with households and measuring volunteers’ impact.
