Details
The Education Development Trust (EDT) conducted a survey of schools in England to find out:
- how working hours have changed since the introduction of workload reduction policies
- what actions schools have taken
EDT was originally commissioned to help schools run small projects to reduce teacher workload using the school workload reduction toolkit. Due to continued disruption from the COVID-19 pandemic, only a small number of schools were able to complete their projects.
Instead, EDT conducted a survey of more than 1,000 school leaders and teachers, asking about the time they spent on unnecessary tasks and how engaged their schools were in workload reduction activities.
The report covers:
- the main findings of the survey
- the benefits of workload reduction activities and responsibilities
- problems that persist around workload
