Details

The Deputy Foreign Secretary and Minister of State (Development and Africa), as UK Governor to the World Bank Group, alongside the Chancellor of the Exchequer as Alternate Governor, made a statement to the World Bank’s Spring Meetings Development Committee in Washington DC on 19 April 2024.

It calls on the World Bank Group, International Monetary Fund and international community to deliver greater scale and impact in development, especially to deliver an ambitious 21st replenishment of the International Development Association. 

While welcoming the progress made so far, the Deputy Foreign Secretary and Minister of State (Development and Africa) stressed the vital role of the World Bank Group to continue delivering the reforms needed whilst working towards increasing financing and ambition.
