Yemen Quint meeting, July 2022: joint communiqué

The UK hosted a 'Quint' meeting with Oman, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the USA, to coordinate our approach to the conflict in Yemen including extending the truce.

Details

Senior representatives of the governments of Oman, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America met on 18 July 2022 to discuss the situation in Yemen. The UN Special Envoy, Hans Grundberg, joined as a guest to the meeting.

The 5 countries issued a joint communiqué after the meeting. They reinforced their full support for UN efforts to secure an extended and expanded truce in Yemen on 2 August 2022.

They welcomed the continuing implementation of agreed confidence building measures by the Government of Yemen, and called upon the Houthis to act with flexibility in negotiations over road closures around Taiz, and to immediately open the main roads.
