James Kariuki

Thank you, Madam President. We don’t usually make EOVs on resolutions adopted by consensus, but in this case, I wanted to thank Council Members for their support in the adoption of this landmark resolution.

I wanted to pay tribute to the troop and police contributing countries who served in AMISOM, and all those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

I wanted to thank in particular those partners – the Somali government, the UN, the AU, the EU – who contributed in developing the proposal for ATMIS, and to continue the transition in the fight against Shabaab.

And finally, I wanted to pay tribute to my team and all the experts who worked tirelessly to get us to where we are.

Thank you.
