Annual numbers of badgers vaccinated against TB in England by risk area.

The Government’s policy on bovine tuberculosis and badger control in England includes vaccination. For the first time Defra is publishing details of the number of badgers vaccinated annually against TB in England. The 2018 figures have been provided by Natural England.

In 2018, 641 badgers were vaccinated across England: 221 in the High Risk Area and 420 in the Edge Area. Of the 420 in the Edge Area, 338 were vaccinated as part the Government’s Badger Edge Vaccination Scheme (BEVS 2). Details are in the table below.
