In February 2014 we published an evidence review identifying the factors that make it harder for some families to get out of poverty. This was published alongside our draft strategy on child poverty.
Because the evidence review relied mainly on pre-2008 research we have conducted further analysis, using more up-to-date sources to ensure the original review findings remain valid. This publication presents a summary of our conclusions. It is not intended to be a comprehensive analysis of poverty.
The Child Poverty Unit have commissioned the National Centre for Social Research to conduct further comprehensive analysis of factors involved in entering and exiting poverty. We have published an early findings report. The final report is expected autumn 2014.
