NCMP and Child Obesity Profile data update: Academic year 2017 to 2018

Update of the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) Child Obesity Profile online data tool to add data for academic year 2017 to 2018. The slope index of inequality for England and historic data for severe obesity prevalence are also being added. The tool displays prevalence of obesity, severe obesity, overweight, healthy weight and underweight at local, regional and national level over time; for children in Reception (aged 4 to 5 years) and Year 6 (aged 10 to 11 years). Users can compare local authority (LA) data by region or between ‘CIPFA nearest neighbours’ (LAs with similar characteristics) . Inequalities in obesity prevalence by sex, deprivation quintile and ethnic group by LA are also available.

• Reason for change: Due to mandatory electrical testing across PHE's data centre at Porton Down it will not be possible to update the live public health database at the scheduled time. As it is necessary that no changes are made to the live systems during testing to ensure all evaluations and measurements are performed within a controlled environment this update will be published one week later than originally stated.
