Details
Quarterly experimental statistics for breastfeeding prevalence at 6 to 8 weeks after birth. Information is presented at local authority of residence, region and England level. Data from previous years was published by OHID (formerly Public Health England).
The data was collected through an interim reporting system set up to collect health visiting activity data at a local authority resident level. Data was submitted by local authorities on a voluntary basis.
Correction notice
Since publication in July, we have identified an error in the data for breastfeeding at 6 to 8 weeks. This error has affected data for local authorities for July to September 2022 (quarter 2 2022 to 2023) in the file published on 4 July. Values for regions and England are correct.
We have corrected this error and issued a revised data file as the August 2023 release. This supersedes the July 2023 release.
