Applies to England

Context

The graphs below are a visual representation of the Conditional mortality data tables for crude probabilities of death, split by cancer and non-cancer causes, for adult cancer patients in England followed up to 2019.

There are 26 graphs, one for each site reported in the data tables. Each of the graphs below shows 18 subplots in a grid laid out in 3 columns.

The first column represents unconditional mortality (or mortality from diagnosis of the cancer), the middle column represents mortality conditional on surviving 1 year after diagnosis and the final column represents mortality conditional on surviving 3 years after diagnosis.

The rows represent 6 age categories; 5 age groups and all ages combined. The youngest age group is at the top with the oldest age group and all ages combined at the bottom.

Each subplot shows the chance of death by a given time (in years). The chance of death is split by whether the cause of death is cancer or other causes. The sum of the 2 types of mortality gives the all-cause mortality.

The whole series of mortality estimates were suppressed for each cancer site, age group, sex-specific combination if the cumulative mortality estimates were not monotonically increasing at individual yearly time points.
