Details
DfT has produced a large dataset of estimated travel times by car in 2013, from each neighbourhood of England to major transport network access points: airports, large rail stations, and major road junctions.
Summary indicators provide measure of connectivity including:
- in 2013, 74% of people in England lived within 1 hour by car of a large airport, 95% within 1 hour of a major rail station, and 96% within 1 hour of a major road junction
- the average travel time by car from where people live to the nearest large airport was 47 minutes, to the nearest major station was 28 minutes and to the nearest major road junction was 24 minutes
This release provides an update to the experimental statistics for 2011 published in 2014.
