This document has now been superseded by the Digest of waste and resource statistics and has now been archived.

This publication covers a new methodology for estimating total waste generation, resulting in the production of estimates for 2008 to 2010. This has been developed in partnership with other agencies and industry bodies. It uses only existing data sources.

Construction and demolition waste forms a significant contribution to landfill. Increasing the recycling and reuse of waste within the industry will help to conserve the dwindling landfill resources.
