This release provides aggregate statistics on agreed performance indicators for DCMS-sponsored museums and galleries from April 2020 to March 2021

Details
Minor revisions were made to the following indicators on 11 August 2022:
- The 2020/21 total annual visitor figure for the Museum of the Home
- The 2020/21 figure for facilitated and self-directed visits by visitors under 18 years old and in formal education, for the British Museum
- The 2020/21 number of UK loan venues figure for the British Museum.
The HTML Performance Indicator Guidance has also been updated to include the Regional Engagement section, which had been previously excluded.
About
The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) sponsors 15 national museums which provide free entry to their permanent collections. The data for this release are collected by the museums through sample surveys, with the exception of the information on educational visits and total visits, which are based on actual counts.
