Details
This is a quarterly Accredited Official Statistics and Official Statistics release of the main DWP-administered benefits via Stat-Xplore or supplementary tables where appropriate.
Statistics on Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit are also published as part of this release.
Statistics on Maternity Allowance are suspended from the November 2024 release.
Delay to statistics and partial release on 12 November 2024
There is a delay in releasing the majority of DWP Benefits Statistics on Stat-Xplore, originally scheduled for Tuesday 12 November 2024. As previously communicated, updating the complete series of DWP Benefits Statistics by this date has not been possible due to delays in data processing.
However, statistics for the following benefits, which come from unaffected data sources, were published on 12 November 2024 as planned:
-
Bereavement Support Payment
-
Housing Benefit
-
Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit
The latest update for other statistics in this collection is delayed until Thursday 28 November 2024.
This delay is primarily due to issues encountered by our data suppliers, which affected the timely delivery of necessary data to our Official Statistics production team. As a result, the process of preparing the data for analysis was 2 weeks behind schedule. The required data is now available, and the production of statistics has commenced. We are working diligently to ensure the timely release of accurate and comprehensive statistics.
Benefit Combinations Statistics are impacted by this delay and will be released on 28 November 2024.
Reinstatement of State Pension statistics in November 2024
The Accredited Official Statistics for State Pension will be reinstated in the release of statistics on 28 November 2024, with data available on Stat-Xplore.
In February 2024, the Accredited Official Statistics for State Pension were suspended due to issues with processing data from the new Get Your State Pension (GYSP) system. This allows the reinstatement of State Pension data to the DWP Benefits statistics publication. State Pension data will also be reinstated to the DWP Benefit Combinations statistics on 28 November 2024.
Benefit Combinations statistics
The Benefit Combination statistics have been extended to show whether Universal Credit (UC) claimants are on the UC health journey, and give additional details about:
-
UC conditionality groups
-
Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) payment type and phase of claim
-
Personal Independence Payment (PIP)/Disability Living Allowance (DLA)/Attendance Allowance (AA) Daily Living and Mobility Awards
These details were already publicly available on the individual benefit statistical series but have never been included on the combined benefit series before. The changes have been applied to the time series from May 2019 onwards and will allow users to understand the benefit picture for those on health and disability related benefits in greater detail than previously.
Scottish devolution: changes to the presentation of DWP statistics
The devolution of social security benefits to the Scottish Government is now having an impact on DWP statistics.
Refer to our background information note for more information on presentational changes we have made to our statistics in response to Scottish devolution.
