Details

The 64th annual report on the Export of Objects of Cultural Interest by the Reviewing Committee on the Export of Works of Art and Objects of Cultural Interest. Between 1 May 2017 and 30 April 2018, 15 cases were considered by the Reviewing Committee. 12 were deferred by the Secretary of State following the recommendation of the Committee.

The export deferred items included the Surrealist objects Lobster Telephone (White Aphrodisiac) and Mae West Lips Sofa, both Salvador Dalí and Edward James; a George I Palladian baby house; and a Roman figurine of a man wearing a hooded cloak.

Seven items were bought by public institutions.
