The final statement for the third budgetary period covering 2018 to 2022 as required by section 18 of the Climate Change Act 2008.

Section 18 of the Climate Change Act requires that a final statement is laid before Parliament in respect of each budgetary period.
The statement for the third budgetary period covering 2018 to 2022 shows that:
- over the third budgetary period, UK emissions as calculated by the net UK carbon account were 2,153 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO2e)
- this is 391 MtCO2e below the third carbon budget cap of 2,544 MtCO2e
- on average this means emissions as measured by the net carbon account were 47% lower than base year emissions over the third carbon budget period. By the end of the period in 2022, UK net greenhouse gas emissions were 50% lower than base year emissions
