About this release
This schedule gives the planned publication dates of all the department’s statistical releases for the coming year.
Final publication dates are confirmed at least 4 weeks in advance of the release date, in line with the Code of Practice for Statistics.
Access to statistical releases are granted to certain individuals, 24-hours before the publication date. A list of those who have access are generally published on the routine statistical collection pages. This is in line with the department’s pre-release policy.
Notes on forthcoming publications
As of October 2024, we have made a selection of changes to our regular statistical release schedule, upon which we would like user feedback. We are making changes to planned publication dates in response to short-term resourcing pressures and in consideration of the latest known user priorities. This reflects our commitment under the Code of Practice for Statistics to ensure both the continued value of our statistics, but also ensure we are able to uphold a particular level of quality and trustworthiness when publishing each statistical release.
The following temporary adjustments are being made:
- pausing of the National Travel Attitudes Study until further notice
- postponement of the next update to our biennial vehicle excise duty statistics until 2026
- postponement of the next update to our annual taxi and private hire vehicles statistics until 2026
- adjusting the frequency of vehicle licensing statistics, resulting in fewer updates until mid-2025
In addition, the following potentially permanent changes are also being made, additionally taking into consideration of known potential for duplication, and being mindful of Code of Practice for Statistics principles on comparability and coherence:
- discontinuation of DfT’s Driver and Rider Testing Statistics from December 2024 onwards, reporting on which will be picked up in an alternative format by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency
- further to a previous request for user feedback, we are also planning to proceed with the discontinuation of our Journey Time Statistics
As with any changes to our statistical offering, we welcome user feedback, which would be used in further decision making about these statistical series. If you wish to provide feedback, please do so via the web survey we have made available.
For reasons of brevity, the monthly release of statistics on UK international sea passengers, SPAS0107 is omitted from the list of forthcoming publications. These statistics are usually released on the second Wednesday of each calendar month.
The department monitors transport activity on a timelier basis for topical issues relating to transport. These are also omitted from the list of forthcoming publications as they are published monthly.
- Daily domestic transport use by mode - daily indexed indicators of usage since January 2020
- Developing faster indicators - timely indicators monitoring developing transport-related events
