Details
The HMPPS workforce bulletin provides statistics on staffing levels and staff inflows and outflows in England and Wales. This publication updates statistics on HMPPS staffing levels up to the end of March 2020.
The prison officer and operational support grade (OSGs) recruitment diversity annex is not published this quarter. As the demand increases for statistics and data to measure the impact of the COVID19 pandemic, the Ministry of Justice has had to change its data gathering and release practices, focussing efforts on priority analysis and statistics. Our statement MOJ Statistics explains this further and, in line with guidance from the Office for Statistics Regulation, the decision has been made to alter the frequency of the Prison Officer recruitment annex from quarterly to six-monthly, with the next publication intended for August 2020. We will keep users updated of further changes via the Ministry of Justice publication release schedule.
The probation officer recruitment annex provides the difference between required and current staffing levels of Probation Officers, and the number of Trainee Probation Officers and other qualified staff.
The bulletin is released by the Ministry of Justice and produced in accordance with arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.
