This ad hoc management information release provides the total number of Band 3 to 5 prison officers working in Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Services (HMPPS), along with a snap shot of job offers those scheduled for prison officer training in future months.

This has been released in the interest of transparency, specifically to help inform progress against the prison officer recruitment commitment announced in the November 2016 Prison Safety and Reform White Paper.

These data are not Official Statistics but the core principles of the Code of Practice for Official Statistics have been followed.
